Why coffee is a good idea.

Never mind its ability to make people happy, coffee has so many other advantages, and some that might surprise you!

The question is, do you drink enough coffee?

If you get the optimal amount it can be highly beneficial, but go too far and it could have detrimental side effects (but you probably already know that from experience).

So let’s give you a run down on the good, the bad and potentially the ugly, of our beloved coffee.

Healthy Antioxidants.

Antioxidants are super important for the body and help fight off the bad goings on that happen inside us. So the fact that coffee contains a powerful punch of antioxidants is something you can feel good about when you’re sipping back the liquid gold.

Increases metabolism.

The caffeine element of coffee is the hero here. It increases the rate at which the body uses energy. Even when you’re resting the caffeine will be working away, breaking down the food you consume, which can contribute towards you maintaining a healthy weight. But we hate to break it to those latte lovers, that really only comes into effect when you drink your coffee black. So maybe it’s time to go black?

Can offer a power boost in difficult situations.

You know. The kind of situation where you need to be on top form, but for whatever reason you’re not firing. It might be that you’ve got an occasion where you need to be social and outgoing, or dealing with a difficult client and you just need something to give you the edge. Pour that cup of coffee, take a moment, and it just might be the thing that helps you come out on top.

Now for the cons. Like all pleasures, there are usually some cons. The good thing about coffee cons is that they usually come with consuming an excessive amount. ‘Everything in moderation’ as they say.

The sleep stealer.

Again, it’s the caffeine in coffee that’s the culprit. Caffeine is essentially a stimulus drug that makes the body alert. So if you have too much in your system and you’re trying to sleep it’s going to make it extra challenging to nod off. If you’re one of those people who just loves the coffee taste and you feel you’ve had enough caffeine for the day, try giving a decaf coffee a go 𑁋 it might not be as bad as you think.

Not so great side effects.

Some people drink coffee to make them feel ‘more human’ especially in the mornings when they’re trying to start the day and stay alert. However if you consume too much coffee it can mess with your mood. You may feel jittery, restless, anxious or fatigued. So when you hear someone say ‘there’s no such thing as too much coffee’ just keep these in mind.

It’s safe to say that you can feel good about drinking your daily coffee, it brings so much good to your health and mindset, and can have the power to turn a not so good day into a great one 𑁋 wouldn’t you agree?
